2017 Goals

Erin Condren planner and pens on white wooden background

2016 is the first year I’ve consciously kept my goals in mind throughout the year, so I thought I’d keep on the same path and make a new set of goals for 2017.

Christmas Fun with Asmodee UK *

I don't know about you, but when I get together with family, one of my favourite things to do is have a few drinks and whack out a board game.

Christmas on a Budget

Christmas damn near bankrupts me almost every year. In an attempt to be better with my money, I've been a bit savvier this year and budgeted quite well. I thought I'd share some tips I found really helpful during the Christmas period.

Christmas in Manchester

Beaded Santa at Manchester Christmas Market
One of my favourite things to do around Christmas is visit Christmas Markets. It’s pretty much a yearly tradition for Dave and me to go visit our friends Ian and Rach in Manchester and spend the day drinking, eating and walking around the City Centre for the Christmas Markets.

Why I Love Christmas

Liverpool Christmas Tree

Christmas is probably my favourite time of year. It’s lovely and cold, sometimes rainy, and the dark nights are a perfect excuse for snuggling in front of the TV with a giant blanket.

Christmas at Clarins Skin Spa *

I have had a taste of heaven. No seriously, I'm pretty sure if I died right now and heaven was an actual thing, Clarins Skin Spa is where I'd end up (if I wasn't such a terrible person).

2016 Goals: How Have I Done?

Adulthood is a Myth by Sarah Anderson, on a white wooden background, covered in copper fairylights

As part of my '12 Days of Christmas' posts, I wanted to start with a final review of my 2016 Goals!

Where the Hell Have I Been?

In case you hadn't noticed, I'd taken a bit of a 'leave of absence' from blogging for quite a few weeks, and I thought I'd update you as to why. Well, it's only been three weeks, but it feels like it's been quite a lot longer.

Turning My Blog into a Book with BlookUp

Blook On White brick background with multicoloured stars

After my first blog birthday, I wanted something to commemorate my first year as a fully fledged blogger. So when BlookUp got in touch, it was practically written in the stars.

Diva Cup Fever

I should warn you now: if you aren't okay with period talk or vaginas, you should probably not read this post, cause this post is full of 'em.

5 Reasons to Donate Blood

Bronze blood donor card wrapped in copper fairy lights

I've never really been scared of needles the way a lot of people are. I mean, I don't like watching them take blood or piercing anything, but the thought of it doesn't frighten me. Maybe that's why I find it a lot easier to donate blood than most. I thought I'd write this post as a way to encourage and educate on the process of giving blood.

UFYH: Unfuck Your Habitat and Your Mind

I am a horribly messy person. I’d like to say this is all singularly down to times when I get too tired and nauseous to do anything, but I have literally always been this way. I get overwhelmed very easily and I’m very quick to just switch off when things get too much.

Favourite Autumn Lip Colours

Various lipsticks for autumn on a white wooden background.

With the darker nights, I love bringing a dark influence into my makeup during autumn/winter. The seasons generally don't dictate my style, and I'll quite happily wear a grey lip in the height of July, but I'm much more confident in my makeup during the winter because it probably won't melt off of my face with the heat.

VIP Lush Event: Halloween Launch and Spa Tour

Lush Halloween bath bomb collection

In honour of the launch of Lush's Halloween range, on August 22nd I had one of my dreams come true. I, along with a bunch of other bloggers, was given free roam around Lush after closing. I'm really coming around to the idea of lock-ins in stores!

The Perfect Pedicure?

Pedicure tools on a white wooden background

The one part of my body I always tend to neglect is my poor little feet. I don't wear sandals or walk around barefoot, so it's just a part of my body that's never really on show, and in turn forgotten about! I barely make the time to paint my fingernails, let alone my toenails. In a bid to pamper myself, I donned a face mask and took on the task of making my feet look relatively soft and normal.

Bloggers at Supercuts Event

I've been to my fair share of lock-ins, but nothing beats being locked in a salon with a team of hairdressers and beauticians!

LivHelps inside Dough Bar

I absolutely adore blogging events, and I was lucky enough to be invited to #LivHelps, hosted by the wonderful Sammy, in one of my favourite bars. As I’m sure you all know if you follow me on any social media, I always seem to be in Dough Bar, so I was pretty pleased when they came to the rescue after an issue with a previous venue!

A Year of Blogging

Print saying There is Always Something to be Thankful for on white background

It’s my blog birthday! I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since I made the big scary step of posting my first ever review online! Looking back at my first posts, and it’s amazing for me to see how far I’ve come. I’m slowly but surely improving my blog, going to conferences and events, meeting so many amazing people, and I even hosted my first ever blogging event (and it was amazing)! In a year of blogging, I’ve learnt some lessons, and been given a lot of valuable advice, and I’d like to share some of my insights with you.

My Morphe Haul!

Morphe eyeshadow palettes and Morphe travel brush set on white background

For my birthday, I was lucky enough to get a few Morphe bits that I’ve had my eye on for quite a while. After watching YouTubers like NikkieTutorials and MannyMUA preach about how amazing Morphe palettes and brushes are, I wanted to get some to try and decide for myself.

A Tarte Haul

The Tarte Grav3yard Girl Swamp Queen palette has been in and out of stock for a few months now, as part of a limited edition collection. I was lucky enough to get my paws on one, and a couple of other bits thanks to my Nana!

A Year On

It’s so insane that it has been a whole year since one of the greatest men I’ve never known died. My Granddad, lovingly known as Pop, died at home with my Nan by his side. It’s hard to put into words how I feel, and I’ve had to try to write this on four separate occasions, just to try and get all my thoughts together. This post may be a little all over the place, but bear with me.

LPP Event: Our Planning Paid Off

LPP Event Collage

In case you hadn’t noticed my meltdowns over the past few months, the LPP Event that Alisha and I spent several months preparing has finally been and gone, and it was amazing! All of our hard work, blood, sweat, and tears have paid off!

How I Manage My Anxiety

Photo reading Be Peaceful Be Happy Be Whole on a white background

Anxiety has taken over my life in the past few months. I’ve always been an excessive worrier (just ask my parents), but it’s gotten to the point that I’ve taken the big scary step of asking my GP for help with it, because it's starting to get out of control and affect a lot of my life.  While I’m on the waiting list for CBT, I’ve put together a list of things that have helped me try and manage on a daily basis, and I thought I would share them with you, in hopes this could help someone in a similar position. Remember, what works for me may not work for you. If you find that reading doesn’t relax you, that’s okay. Try something else. If you find something else that works better, let me know. I’d love to hear your ideas!

2016 Goals: Checking in

Blogger journal, gem necklace and skull money box on white background

It's been a little while since I've updated you all with how I'm doing with my 2016 Goals, hasn't it? A lot has been going on, and it's hard to keep up with where I am daily! Last time I wrote about this was back in February so I think I'm due an update.

Vamping Up My Storage

Dave is always telling me that I have too much stuff. To be fair to him, I do need to get a bit of a grip and stop hoarding. I just have so many things and not enough storage in our one-bedroom flat. As you’ll remember, one of my 2016 goals was to be more organised, so when I was contacted by Store, I snapped up the chance to try one of their beauty organisers.

Soap and Glory Archery Brow Pencil: Brow Wiz Dupe?

Soap and Glory Archery brow pencil with arrow on white background

There. I said it. Even though a lot of people swear that the Dip Brow Pomade is the best thing for eyebrows since discovering eyebrow wax as a teenager, I’ve just never needed it. The eyebrow gods have been kind to me and blessed me with a strong brow.

My 25th Birthday Wish List!

Sabre Beauty Birthday Wish List

In a few short weeks, I turn 25. Jesus Christ, I should probably get it together and admit I’m a fully-fledged adult now, right? (As if paying bills wasn’t convincing enough!) I’ve had a couple of requests for a ‘birthday wish list’, so I’ve put together a list of things I’m lusting after at the minute, and would absolutely love as a gift.

Mini Sephora Haul : Kat Von D

Kat Von D products on a white background

When my Dad went on a trip to Vegas a few weeks ago, I practically begged him to bring me some Kat Von D stuff back from Sephora. My Dad is amazing, so of course, he went into Sephora (with the screenshots I sent him of everything I wanted) and picked it all up for me. This was long before Debenhams starting stocking Kat Von D!

Blogging Dos and Don'ts

I’m coming up to a year of blogging (well, in August), and I’m quite surprised how much I've learned in this first year! When I first started, I had no idea what I was doing, or what was going to unfold for me. Going through old posts, I can see how my style is evolving, and it just makes me wonder where I'll be in another year's time! One of my favourite types of posts to read are blogging help posts, and I thought it might be useful for some to share my Dos and Don’ts of blogging that I've learned over the past year.

Blog On MSI 2016

If you had told me a year ago that I would have been attending a blogger conference, and rubbing shoulders with some of the UK’s most notable professional bloggers, I’d have probably laughed in your face. However, I found myself doing just that on May 1st this year! Thanks to a friend, I managed to get a ticket to the annual Blog On MSI. Taking place in the Museum of Science and Industry, Blog On is a conference run by Laura Seaton, that has been going for several years now, garnering more and more interest each year.

My London Adventure and Haul

The River Thames

GUILTY CONFESSION: Before last week, I had never been to London. I’ve lived in the UK since 1999, and I’d never been to the capital! I’d been talking about going for ages, and in January I decided enough was enough and booked a train and hotel room for the first week in April. My friend Rach was kind enough to go with me, as a bit of a tour guide.

Review: Rack & Dollar

The Rack and Dollar Liverpool Logo

On Easter Sunday, Dave and I weren’t feeling the whole ‘stay home and have a massive roast’ vibe, so we spent the day in Liverpool City Centre. After having a massive brunch at The Baltic Social (where I broke a tooth on a hash brown), we ambled back into town and passed Rack and Dollar. It started absolutely lashing it down, and we’d never been before, so we decided to seek shelter there.

My Current Skincare Routine

Liz Earle skincare range, with two pots of Lush face masks on a red background

I didn't really have too much of a skincare routine until a couple of years ago. I have combination oily/dry skin and I've tried a whole bunch of stuff to try and control my breakouts to no success. Clinique dried out my skin, Philosophy just didn't seem to do much for me, and Simple may as well have just been water.

Wahaca, Liverpool One

For our 6th anniversary, Dave and I had originally planned to go to Nando’s. I know, I know – it’s hardly a romantic spot, but I am easy to please when it comes to date nights.

My Current Lip Care Routine

With the harsh winter cold, people tend to focus on skincare and wrapping up warm. There's nothing wrong with that, but something that shouldn't be neglected is your lips! You use them every day - eating, drinking, talking, kissing - and yet, many people forget that they still have to take care of their lips! I used to be one of those people, until I got myself into an easy routine. Here are my lip essentials!
