International Women's Day 2017: Women That Inspire Me

In honour of International Women's Day, I wanted to put together a list of women that inspire me in a number of ways. I don't get a chance to thank these women a lot, so hopefully this can go a little way!

My Mum

My Mum was the first, and biggest female role model in my life. She upped sticks and moved to the UK to start all over again, and build our family to the strong unit that it is, at 28. She raised me and my sisters to be the strong, self assured women that we've turned out to be. She's worked her ass off, alongside my Dad, to give us a great start in life and I don't think I'll ever be able to repay her for that. So, thank you for everything you have done for us.

My Sisters

I was literally 7, and I had already destroyed my knee.
Erin and Ashley have always been my oldest friends. We fought (where I distinctly remember Erin slamming my head in the door. Thanks betch), we cried, and annoyed the shit out of Mum and Dad, but we're the greatest of friends. I know that I can count on Erin to give great advice when I literally don't know where else to go, and Ashley can cheer me up no matter what. I've been lucky enough to see them both grow up into amazing women, Erin a homeowner and Ashley now at University, and I couldn't be prouder.

There isn't anything I can say that can do Michala any justice. She's been with me through some of the darkest times in my life, and has always been a shoulder to cry on. She can make me laugh like no-one else, and has also been able to give me a kick in the ass when I need it. I mean, she came to my house just to help me put my shopping away after my op, and was prepared to help me off of the toilet. If that isn't true friendship, I don't know what is. We are kindred spirits. The soul mates of bezzies.

Katy & Sam

I met Katy and Sam through blogging, and they have both come to be two of my greatest friends. They both work their fingers to the bone for their passion, and use their platform to address important issues that often go unspoken. They're both so open, kind, and loving and inspire me to work hard every single day.

Danielle is out there every day saving lives. If you know her blog, you'll know that she works full time as a Nurse, and still manages to blog, vlog and have her shit together. She's a shoulder to cry on, and has an insane plethora of knowledge about literally any medical issue I've come to her with. She's a great example of where hard work can get you!

Danielle is another lovely gal I met around the same time I met (the other) Danielle. She's kind, generous and thoughtful. She makes me laugh like a maniac literally any time I see her. Anyone that knows Danielle is very lucky to do so.

There's so much to say about Lydia, that I honestly don't even know where to begin. She's so open about her struggle with anxiety, but will drop everything to help if she thinks you're struggling in even the slightest way. She's downright hilarious, and I strive to one day be even half as quick and witty she is.

Antonia is another beautiful friend of mine. She's stylish, hilarious, and she has done an amazing job raising her little boy. She inspires me to be more adventurous in my life. She's always either trying new recipes, or jetting off to places she's never been before, and I can only hope to be as brave and hardworking as she is.

Kayleigh is one of the funniest people I know. She works her ass off every day, after boldly quitting her job to go to University. Even with working practically every hour, she still manages to remain so fabulous. She's always there to back you up, whether that's with something huge like losing a family member, or re-tweeting a bitchy tweet you just couldn't resist.

Hollie is training to be a teacher, works part time, freelances, and still manages to read more books in a week than I have done in a year. I'm honestly in awe of how she does it!

Sarah inspires me to work harder. Not only does she work full time at a hospital, she also blogs a hell of a lot more frequently than I do! She's always doing something exciting, whether that be at a gin festival, or out at a spa day! She is the voice of reason when it comes to any big decisions, and I can always rely on her for sound advice.

I obviously can't include everyone I know and love, but these women are all part of my amazing support network, who help me get through every single day. I can honestly say I wouldn't be who I am today without them.
