Tell Me More: Sabre Beauty's Second Birthday!

It's my second birthday!

I can't believe it's been two years since I hit publish on my first ever blog post! Going through and looking at some of my horrible photography and slapdash posts makes me cringe to no end, but I wouldn't change it for the world!

In honour of Sabre Beauty's second birthday, I thought I'd do the 'Tell Me More Tag', as made by my lovely friend Lyd. Enjoy!

What's the story behind your blog name?
Sabre is a combination of the beginning of my first name and the beginning of my last name. When I first started blogging, I was primarily a beauty blog, but then I started branching out into a lot more lifestyle and personal pieces. Beauty isn't as relevant now, but I'm scared to go for a rebrand!

What's your real reason for blogging?
I initially started blogging because I love to write. I'm now two years in and I love not only writing but the behind the scenes work required too. I love experimenting with photography, bits of coding and helping organising events and getting involved with the community. As much as I love to write, there's so much more to it now.

Best thing about blogging?
Hands down, the amazing friends that I've made through blogging. It helped me finally get a job that I enjoy, and out of the worst periods in my life.
Worst thing about blogging?
The way people fucking tear into the 'community' as if their opinion is the only one that matters. As I've said before, a community is what you make of it. Don't like people that take photos of their food? Don't follow food bloggers. Don't like marble backgrounds, rose gold props, and beauty reviews? Don't follow beauty bloggers. Why do people find that so difficult? Yes, every community has a few bad eggs, but why would you judge a whole community on that? Surround yourself with people you like! Ultimately, you aren't being forced to put up with these people, so why get so wound up?

As a prime example, I've known a person, who shall remain nameless because they don't deserve the attention (or the backlink) call the Liverpool blogging community a bunch of 'bullies' and 'drama-obsessed individuals'. I, on the other hand, have never had anything other than positive experiences with the community. They're the friendliest, most supportive gang of people I've ever met and I couldn't be prouder of them all!

Proudest moment so far?
Organising a blogging event has been my proudest moment of the last two years! It's opened a few doors for me, helped me find a passion, and was a real thrill!

What are your ultimate blogging goals? Don't be shy!
I'd really love to be able to take it full-time. I'd love to be able to travel the world, see the sights, and eat amazing food. I'd also love to know that I've made a difference. I try to be as open as possible about my mental health and medical conditions in a bit to encourage others to do the same, and I'd love to hear that I've helped someone in their life.
If you released a book, what genre would it be?
Either horror or romance. Maybe a mix of the two? I used to do a lot of writing when I was younger, so maybe if super cringey romance stories make a comeback I'll smash it!
If you released products, what would they be? Homeware, beauty or something unexpected?
Homeware! I love that sweet, sweet storage.

What would you name the products and why?
I'm not creative enough to think of catchy enough names for things! Maybe I'll just stick with my blog name in front of it!

What has blogging taught you?
That it doesn't matter what you want to write about. If you're passionate about something, it'll show and people will appreciate your content. Unless you're a bad knobhead racist - then don't bother.

It's also taught me not to compare myself to other people. I still fall victim to this a lot, because it's hard to remember that everyone has different times they can commit to their blog, different equipment, different skills etc. Everyone's different, and it's about finding what suits me.

Sum up your blog in three words
My fave hobby. 💁
