My Goals for 2018

Happy 2018 everyone! 2017 was a bit of a dumpster fire, wasn't it?

I wanted to take a slightly different approach with my goals this year. It's easy to accidentally set yourself up to fail if you don't set yourself realistic standards, which is what I've tried to do for 2018.

Do a social media/phone cleanse

Like the majority of my generation, I'm absolutely glued to my phone. I miss out on a lot of conversation and moments because I'm too busy mindlessly scrolling through Twitter. Whilst I've been busy scrolling endlessly, I've noticed that I follow a lot of people that I don't particularly enjoy simply out of politeness. In 2018 I want to not only cut down on the amount of time I waste on social media, I also want to cut out content and people that I don't like or enjoy. I don't want to waste my time checking out what people from college are doing, when they couldn't give a fuck about me.

Complete a no-spend challenge

Rather than going with the same goal of 'paying off one of my debts' from 2017, I want to generally just be a little smarter with money. I waste a lot of my money on shite, and it needs to stop. I want to challenge myself to not spend any money for a whole month (outside of absolute essentials, like food).

Stick to a regular blog schedule

I've spent a lot of time back and forth in 2017. I went through phases of not blogging at all, because I either had a lot to deal with or I just didn't have the spark. I want to find my passion for blogging again, and to dedicate time to improving. I have a nasty habit of having a sudden surge of inspiration, writing a bunch of content, and posting it all at once. I should probably learn to pace myself.

Make more of an effort to monetise my blog

This isn't as much of a driving force as my other goals, but being able to make some money from my blog would be nice. I've had a few sponsored posts over the past year, but I'd love to be able to generate a little bit of extra income from my writing and social media. (Side note, if you want to work with me, hit me up!)

I've taken a leaf out of Sarah and Antonia's book this year, and set myself an 'intention word' for 2018. This year, I'm going to be taking a lot more action. A lot of shitty things happened last year, but I'm determined to not just let life happen to me anymore.

What are your goals for 2018?

  1. These are really good resolutions to have. I definitely need to partake in a social media cleanse too. It’s well overude and definitely needed.

My main goals are to climb Snowdon and continue to make parenting content on my channel. I really want to help as many people as I can.

I’m also tempted to choose a word for this year. I’m currently gravitating towards “change”.

    1. Thanks Jackie! A social media cleanse is so freeing - I've already started!

Climbing Snowdon and more parenting content are both really great goals, and Change is a great word to choose! You can do it!
